Context

ISAIAH 55:6-11

The book of Isaiah takes its name from its writer. Isaiah prophesied from 739-681 BC to a nation that had turned a deaf ear to the Lord.
The book provides us with the most comprehensive prophetic picture of Jesus Christ in the entire Old Testament. It includes the full scope of His life: The announcement of His coming (Chapters 1-42) and the good news of His redemptive work ahead (Chapters 43-end)

Today Passage ISAIAH 55:6-11

6 Seek the Lord while he may
be found:
call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their
ways
and the unrighteous their
thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and
he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will
freely pardon.
8"For my thoughts are not
your thoughts,
neither are your ways my
ways,
declares the Lord.
9"As the heavens are higher
than the earth,
so are my ways higher than
your ways
and my thoughts than your
thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and
flourish,
so that it yields seed for the
sower and bread for the eater.
11 so is my word that goes out
from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I
desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Have Faith in God, He is Faithful and Just.

Space for Grace

It has been said that faith in God
begins where human understanding ends. In otherwords, faith starts where we
stop. Faith begins when weacknowledge that we don’t know everything and that there are things at work in our lives and in the world around us that are way beyond our ability to
comprehend.

In verses 8-9 of today’s passage, Isaiah reminds us that God’s thoughts are not like our own thoughts. And his ways are far
beyond anything we could than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts.
God’s lowest thoughts are still higher than our greatest plans, priorities and philosophies, and accepting that means releasing pride and walking in humility.

But living by faith can be agonizing when we have become so accustomed to control. We live in a world where we can customize our
experiences, we can get our orders delivered to our doorstep, just how we like it, with a simple click of a button. We have grown to believe that we are in control of our little the invitation we need, an invitation to relax back into trust, to give ourselves over to God’s goodness, to remember that we don’t have the world on
a string. And to remember that true and lasting joy is not even found in the outcome we are believing for. No, joy is found as
we grow in intimacy with the
One in whom we have believed.

It’s okay to acknowledge that it’s hard to be full of faith sometimes. But rather than
giving ourselves over to fear and worry, we can trust that God is at work whether we’re
certain of the outcome or not. are higher, and we can trust that. As we believe this truth, we can be filled with joy and peace,
knowing that He knows everything, and we don’t need to. Today, resolve to
wholeheartedly trust God, even in times of uncertainty.
